This refers to the article, “End of Coalition Politics in India” (May 18) by Hari Shankar Vyas. The gist of the article is worth repeating: “Catering to Muslim voters failed to make a difference for either Nitish Kumar or Mulayam Singh. That is the reason why top leaders of the JD(U) are complaining that they did a lot for Muslims but did not get anything from them in return.”
This proves that there is no limit for the so-called secular political parties in the appeasement of a community. But then it has also been shown in this election that no community will mortgage its loyalty to a political party for all time to come. Therefore, the original BJP slogan, ‘Justice to all and appeasement to none', is the most desirable policy. It needs to be implemented with vigour by the BJP Government led by Mr Narendra Modi.
