This refers to the editorial, “Hounding a General” (September 23). Vendetta politics is the trademark of the Congress, and its shameful response towards former Chief of Army Staff VK Singh is nothing new.
Several politicians too have suffered the consequence of crossing swords with the Congress. One doesn't need to be a scientist to understand why the former Army chief is being harassed by the party.
Gen Singh, now retired, lives in a free and democratic country and has the right to align with any party he prefers. But the Congress has failed to understand this. The Government it leads must answer the many questions that the editorial has raised. What is the guarantee that the UPA did not influence the findings of the Army’s internal inquiryIJ The fact is that the Congress has panicked after the BJP announced Mr Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate. Unable to respond effectively, the Congress-led regime is now harassing those who are seen to back Mr Modi.
