Sir — This refers to the report, “Kanchi seers absolved of mutt murder” (November 28). Even a layman who followed the case from the beginning had no doubt what the final verdict would be.
In the name of investigation, Tamil Nadu Police unleashed a smear campaign against the mutt and its seers. The Congress-led UPA Government and the so-called secular, liberal, rights brigade supported the assault. Media organisations in the State, barring a few, were busy spreading canards against the institution and its heads. One does hope that better counsel will now prevail on the Tamil Nadu regime, and it will not challenge the verdict.
