Sir — The successful conduct of election in Pakistan is a great victory for democracy and the civilian regime in that country. The people of Pakistan must be congratulated for having shown tremendous courage and exercising their democratic rights, despite the threat and violence perpetrated by the Taliban.
India has always supported democratic rule in Pakistan and one hopes that Mr Nawaz Sharif, who is poised to take over as Prime Minister for the third time, will address India’s concerns on numerous issues, especially action against the mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, which is long overdue. If he can act on that, it’ll be a great beginning to peaceful ties.
