Vicious report

Sir — This refers to the article, “Malicious UNHRC report” by Bhopinder Singh (June 29). India is a democratic country that is governed by the rule of law. Unlike in communist and authoritarian regimes, chances of violation of human rights in Kashmir, as reported by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), are remote and unthinkable.

It is an undisputed fact that terrorists from across the border as well as and separatists in the region are unleashing unrest and violence in the Kashmir Valley.

Vitriolic, vicious and virulent attacks on Army camps and other places are resulting in deaths of hundreds of innocent people besides causing widespread destruction. It is also known that youths are used as human shields to prevent security forces from completing their operations. India has all the sovereign rights to contain and neutralise these extremist elements. UNHRC’s report is, therefore, misleading and is based on factitious concoction without tenable evidence.
