US duplicity

Published on:

Sir — This refers to the death of a Black man in police custody in a US city. Close on the heels of a Black man being shot dead in Fergusson city by a White police official in August last, has come the news of another Black being shot to death in Baltimore. That this should happen in the most developed democracy, makes the incident more disgraceful.

It is the same US whose head of state lectured India on the need for tolerance among various hues of people. Ours has been a record of unity in diversity. In this regard, special mention needs to be made of the two smallest religious groups in the country, Zoroastrianism and Judaism. They have not only been living blissfully but also contributing economically, socially and scientifically to the nation’s progress.

There is a proverb in Hindi which reads: ‘A winnowing fan may make a noise, but why should a sieve too, which has 72 holes in itIJ’ So, instead of preaching to others, the US should introspect.
