US and Russia should now walk the talk

This refers to the editorial, “leading from the front” (September 28). It was heartening to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitching for a permanent seat for India in the United Nations Security Council. Mr Modi during his address, stressed on the fact that the present structure of this body does not prepare it to deal with huge changes like terrorism and climate change.

I agree with your suggestion that by walking the talk and speaking on behalf of other G4 members, Mr Modi has shown to the world that India is ready to transform the shape of global processes. Of  course, there will be doubts on whether the efforts of the G4 members will see the light of the day or not. In the past, efforts were made to put down India. But it is high time when both the US and Russia, understand the fast changing realities of the world and support India's candidature for a permanent seat in the UNSC. It is now their turn to walk the talk.
