Sir — This refers to the recent news that growth has fallen to a decade low of five per cent. Any person with a basic knowledge of development and growth understands that this is not an overnight phenomenon.
The real credit for the growth during UPA1 must be given to the previous Vajpayee-led NDA Government which sowed the seeds for development in the country. Unfortunately, the Congress-led regime frittered away the legacy of the Vajpayee Government, and that has lead to the economic slowdown the country is going through under the present UPA2 regime. The present Government, under the leadership of an eminent economist, has not implemented sound policies for development and growth.
