Sir — This refers to the article, “Desperate Omar plays with fire” (May 30) by Hari Om. The Constitution incorporated Article 370 as a temporary measure for the State of Jammu & Kashmir. The Supreme Court has in its various judgements guaranteed the basic structure of the Constitution which safeguards fundamental rights. The Constitution gives every citizen equality and equal protection by the law. Article 370 violates Article 14 by giving special status to Jammu & Kashmir, which violates the basic structure of the Constitution.
