Sir — There is massive resentment amongst the people and the Opposition parties against the CBI raids on the residence of DMK chief M Karunanidhi’s son MK Stalin. The raids have only given credence to the frequent allegations of misuse of the country’s premier investigating agency by the Congress-led UPA Government to browbeat recalcitrant allies. In the present case, the DMK has been punished for withdrawing support to the UPA. The Government’s ‘regret’ should also be taken with a pinch of salt.
Some Congress leaders have asserted that the Government has never misused the CBI. Now let us accept this as gospel truth and urge the Government to free the CBI from its control, as this has been a long-standing demand of all the Opposition political parties and of social activist Anna Hazare.
