Unnecessarily glorified?

Sir — A large number of people are up in arms about the removal of Taj Mahal from the list of tourist attractions in Uttar Pradesh. This bold step taken by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was long overdue. While India has hundreds of historical places and hoary temples of berauty and granduer, why should Taj Mahal be singled out for glorification and publicityIJ

The undue importance we accorded to this structure for the sole purpose of earning foreign exchange resulted in a situation where the word ‘India’ has become synonymous with Taj Mahal. 

India, a country of great civilisation, culture, heritage and spirituality, has become a country of Taj Mahal for people all over the world. let Taj Mahal be there but we should make the rest of the world understand that there is more to India than just this marble monument.
