Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Tough time for Britain” (June 6). The editorial has rightly emphasised on the need for a comprehensive global union to fight terror. However, before this can happen, countries must be united within themselves. They must speak in one voice against terrorism instead of scoring brownie points, politically, against the party in power.
lessons must be taken from Britain, where the two opposition parties decided to stay the course and strongly condemned the attack. Sadly, this does not happen in India. Back home, not only does the Opposition not stand with the Government in tackling terrorism, but it also does not leave any stone unturned to embarrass the Government by finding fault with its actions. It may be hoped that saner thoughts will prevail amongst political parties at least where national interests are involved.
