Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Tough time for Britain” (June 6). The latest terror attack in Britain has come with days to go for a general election in the UK. Therefore, there is the possibility of the Islamic State (IS) terrorists even targeting high-profile political figures who tend to lower their guard and go among their supporters in the run-up to a crucial election.
That the IS would carry out another massacre was not difficult to predict, and the British Government had adopted security measures following the Manchester concert blast on May 22. Terrorists have demonstrated that nothing can prevent them from destroying their targets anywhere in the world.
All it takes to plunge any big city into a bloodbath is a single brainwashed terrorist with a loaded assault rifle and/or a suicide jacket. Powerful nations must shed their double-standards on terrorism. That is half the battle in ridding the world of the scourge of terror which hasn’t spared a single nation.
