Sir — The ongoing saga in the Aam Aadmi Party is quite engaging, as it is different from anything that the nation has seen from other political entities in all these decades. The only other party that comes close to performing such shenanigans is the Trinamool Congress led by Ms Mamata Banerjee. But even didi struggled for well over a decade against the left cadre. It was not a protest movement, as the ideology of both the TMC and the left is largely socialist-communist. The TMC’s fight was to occupy the political space that the left had been slowly ceding due to an ideology past its shelf life. The BJP assiduously built its prime ministerial candidate during the 2014 election whereas Mr Kejriwal built his party. Now, Mr Kejriwal has dared to take a wrench to the core of the party, hoping to steer the future course. He might just succeed, if only because of the speed with which he has acted. This is a point that other parties will do well to note. The BJP, for example, has to address its fringe elements.
