Sir — The way the Winter Session of Parliament folded up without passing many important Bills is worrying. It is sad that that the women’s reservation Bill has been left in a limbo since it has no godfathers. The Government was acting under pressure and with an eye on its political future. But that our MPs were loathe to push for other Bills with less public implication is a crying shame on the Opposition as well.
It looks like most parties wound up the session to focus on the more ‘important’ task of preparing to go to the people for votes in 2014. Our elected representatives cry themselves hoarse about the duties of ordinary citizens. But when it comes to their own duties, they appear reluctant to work for extra hours.
The obstinate stand has resulted in a huge waste of taxpayer’s money. How can a citizen be expected to fulfil his obligations, like paying tax, when the Bill on the direct tax code is waiting for Parliament’s nodIJ
