Unfazed personality

Sir — This refers to the report, “Joginder Singh leaves for his heavenly abode” (February 4). The sad demise of former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director and senior columnist, Joginder Singh, is a deep loss to the nation. During his 11-month stint with the CBI, he faced several hostilities from politicians, bureaucrats and the media.

However, the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sadbhavana Awardee remained unfazed and shouldered his responsibilities with conviction. During his brief tenure, he displayed exemplary courage by initiating action in the fodder scam.

Singh’s lead articles on good governance, counter-terrorism, bureaucratic reforms and self-development in The Pioneer engaged the readers in meaningful debates and helped shape their opinion. His books — Make A Way Where There Is None, 50 Days to Top, Inside CBI, Police Ki Kahani Meri Zabani — are a rich source of inspiration for people of all walks of life. His words, “Nothing will change unless you change the laws”, will echo in the corridors of power.
