Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Too many train mishaps” (June 27). To those who hold Mr Narendra Modi’s regime responsible for these incidents need to understand that creating a mess takes less time than sorting it out. The Modi Government has inherited a poor railway infrastructure and a Maoist problem that affects large parts of the country. The Prime Minister cannot resolve these issues in a single day.
The same cannot be said about the Congress as it had done nothing to improve things and at the same time created a mess over a decade. There nothing bad in fixing responsibilities. But the criteria must be equally applied to all Government. Mr Modi did not enjoy a honeymoon period. But the Congress honeymoon was six decades long with a doting media at its command.
