Sir — This refers to the article, “Thank you. Pranab da, for the conversation” (June 27) by Manmohan Vaidya. There is no doubt that former President Pranab Mukherjee is a mature politician who knows about the pulse of the people and appreciates the culture of this country. Mukherjee elaborated on nationalism and patriotism in Tritiya Varsh Sangh Shiksha Varg of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emphasising upon cultural diversity of country.
The writer has rightly pointed out that usually, intellectuals never took the pain to understand the RSS structure and functioning; nor were they willing to hold any dialogue with Sangh functionaries. We must understand the contribution of RSS in nation-building and their cultural policy which are an important component of unity and integrity in a country. I congratulate the writer for his understanding of the issue.
