This refers to the editorial, “Modi’s Africa connect” (July 13) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s just-concluded four-nation tour to Africa will be remembered for both political and economic contents. The best way to describe his mission is to say that he made it his business to establish India as a ‘reliable friend’ in Africa’s growth story.
In each nation, the thrust was to link the economies with the Indian economy and to supplement this with agreements now indispensable to the developmental ties. And yes, India and Indians will also have to pro-actively address Africa’s perception as a ‘dark continent’ within India and the racial attacks against Africans.
