Undermining national security for vote-bank

This refers to the article, “Surgical strike: looking for method in madness” (October 10) by Balbir Punj. The author has rightly said that the Congress and the left are not happy with the Armed Force's surgical strikes across the line of Control. Initially, they welcomed the strike, but later, when they realised that many of their ‘vote-bank’ constituents did not like the glorious operation, they changed their tone and found ways to condemn the surgical strikes, using terms like ‘khoon ki dalali’.

Communal politics in India is a legacy of partition. look at the stiff fight in West Asia, which shows the divisive mindset of a particular community. They regard their ‘Ummah’ sentiment stronger than the ‘nationalistic urge’. They fail to understand that their ‘Ummah’ has been divided on sectarian and tribal lines, which is a more self-destructive process. Modern education can change this mindset if the left and the Congress do not come in the way.
