This refers to the article, “No silence of lambs in Mamata’s Bengal” by Anirban Ganguly (April 19). The writer has rightly elaborated the mindset of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to subdue Hindu sentiments. Events of the last Ram Navami are sufficient proof of Banerjee’s distaste for Hindu sentiment in her crusade for Muslim appeasement as a vote-bank exercise. Hindus are hurt by these antics of Banerjee to perpetuate violence against Hindu movements.
It is quite possible that Banerjee’s actions are in retaliation to the ongoing Central Bureau of Investigation probe on scams like the Narada sting operation and the Saradha chit fund. Whereas one community has gained in stature in former east Bengal, West Bengal has suffered drastically in numbers in former east Bengal, east Pakistan — now Bangladesh — by Muslim fanatics and terrorists. West Bengal, a land of intellectuals, artists, writers and literate masses, has suffered in numbers.
