Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Aruna Shanbaug and now” (May 19). A comatose Aruna Shanbaug was kept alive for 42 years during which she could not witness the many changes that have happened in this country. Yet, for all that has changed, there is much that hasn’t. Back then, as is now, the safety of women in Mumbai and elsewhere continues to be a matter of serious concern because of lax policing and the insensitivity of society.
