Sir — This refers to the report, “MHA to probe AAP foreign funding” (November 12).There in nothing wrong with questioning the Aam Aadmi Party’s source of funding.

But the Union Government ordering a probe into the matter now is a violation of the Election Commission’s code of conduct as it is aimed to influence the Delhi election. 

Charges of foreign funding were levelled against the AAP a long time ago, but the Government has taken action only in the run-up to the election. The result of the investigation will not come out before the poll. Clearly, the Congress was waiting for a suitable time to publicise the matter and rake in electoral gains. The Election Commission should note this and ensure a level  playing field.
