Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has come in for a lot of flak inside and outside America for his sexist attitude and language. His quips have breached family values. basic decencies of a civilised society and shown his proclivity for objectifying women. His wife Melania Trump and his running mate Mike Pence have squirmed and termed them ‘offensive’ and ‘unacceptable’. Americans are left to wonder how the dissolute contestant, devoid of rectitude, is going ‘to make America great again’.
lewdness is part of Trump’s make-up, as is evidenced by his ease of demeaning women and bragging about groping them. Everything a person says or does is reflective of his personality. Trump is unqualified for the job on account of not just his view of women as mere objects of desire and pleasure, but also his extremely regressive views on race, religion, immigration and economic issues. How Trump eventually responds to the mounting pressure on him to withdraw from the high-profile race for presidency, remains to be seen.
