Sir — This refers to the article, “Sanitation message gets  a fillip” (August 17) by Sriraj Kota. The writer has rightly observed that while the Government has ensures toilets in every home, it has failed to bring a change in the peoples’ mindset so that they use toilets. Even if there are new toilets in the house, there are people, who would go out in the open to defecate. 

Meanwhile, it is also essential that the toilets are cleaned on regular intervals so as to keep it in a usable condition. A training programme becomes all the more necessary so as to educate the people.
