Sir — This refers to the news report, “Inundated tracks give in, kill 29 in twin derailment” (August 6). Indian Railways has one of the largest rail networks. Sadly, it is also prone to the largest number of accidents.
The twin train derailment incident in Madhya Pradesh brings to fore the fact that a lot needs to be done to improve railways safety. Improving safety of the present network, by carrying out extensive safety audit, is the need of the hour.
