Tough action is better than mere tough talk

This refers to Minister for Defence Manohar Parrikar’s remark that Indian forces should (and would) retaliate with “double force” whenever Pakistan breaches the ceasefire along the line of Control and the International Border. This ought to have been the strategy from day one. One was tired of hearing mundane remarks that the Indian troops have responded with ‘equal force’, when the fact is that we were restrained in our response during the earlier Government, allowing the enemy to be further emboldened. This is not a football game where you score an equaliser. In a war, either destroy your enemy or be destroyed.

Hitler had scoffed when some of his officials said to him that a few German ships have equal tonnage as the British ones. We hope the Ministry of Defence will act with prudence and hit the enemy hardest and send it on a tailspin. This the only way to play the game — especially with Pakistan.
