This refers to the editorial, “Mercy-go-round of pleas” (July 31). The editorial rightly points out the fact there is ‘no reason for judicial hangings to be dramatic’. The cries to plead for ‘life imprisonment’ for death is just out of time and thus unwarranted. If at all the issue has to be discussed, it has to be done when no case hangs around.
Pleas as of now are just confusing the judiciary and must, therefore, be processed. Your argument that the pleas relating to mercy must be decided well in time to facilitate hangings, if the Supreme Court has decided, weighs all the pros and cons.
