The outcome of the exit poll has painted a rosy picture for the BJP-led NDA. The Modi-factor shall be deemed to have played pivotal role should the exit poll predictions come true. It is natural that those who emerge victorious in the exit poll surveys beam with utmost satisfaction and that those who suffer defeat are sceptical about the result.
Experience shows that exit poll results are proved more or less correct with very few exceptions. Different surveys have given abnormally different results. But most of the surveys show that the number of seats bequeathed to NDA is hovering round 272, which is the magical figure or the half-way mark.
Whatever may be the exit poll predictions, the public should not take the results on face value. Actual counting will only show the exact results. The losing parties play the drama of introspection and concede defeat, because they cannot do anything beyond that. But sadly they do not learn from their mistakes even if they are voted back to power in the next election. Old habits die hard.
