Sir — This refers to the article, “liberal, conservative, realist or an Islamist” (May 9) by G Parthasarathy. Indians must give up this tendency to resurrect leaders from the past like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao while dealing with problems facing us here and now.
And please spare us the same boring spiel of how Bollywood forms the daily staple of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt or how Nazrulgeeti alone will tame implacable foes in Bangladesh.
Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Pervez Musharraf has always been better than Mr Nawaz Sharif, with respect to policy towards India. India made a terrible mistake by deputing some mainstream journalists as its representatives to talk to General Musharraf. We should not outsourced governance to less-than-capble journalists.
Under the new Government, I hope India stops fulminating at Dawood Ibrahim also; it is better to grant him total amnesty. And I hope BJP also comes up with some refreshing ideas.
