The way forward

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Brazen UPA shamed” (May 9).

It succinctly sums up the indefensible act by which Mr Ashwani Kumar undermined the Supreme Court’s directive and not only interfered with the Central Bureau of Investigation’s status report but went far beyond. However, knowing the Congress, the resultant strong observations by the apex court are unlikely to make Mr Kumar or the Government remorseful. 

Mr Kumar’s action has not only succeeded in exploding the myth that the Government does not control the CBI, but has also paved the way for the release of the agency from the executive’s clutches. It must happen soon.
