Social media is considered to be the new medium of mass communication. But instead, it has become a weapon to gain fame. There is no need for any special talent, hard work, struggle or creativity to come in the eyes of millions. A new trend that has stormed the Internet is the Kiki dance challenge. The rules of the game are pretty simple: One has to dance to the song, Kiki Do You Love Me, while walking along a slow moving car. This game, like the Blue Whale game, is quite dangerous as many people have already lost lives besides several have been injured. Rightly has the police issued counsel against this risky stunt.
As far as India is concerned, the spread of Kiki challenge is even more dangerous here given the amount of traffic on the roads. This has added up to the law and order situation.
Remember, how the blue whale suicide game prompted young people to end their lives? While people, who devise such ill-thought challenge, make big money, they do not care about its impact.
It is for the society at large to show some level of understanding and act like a responsible citizen, instead of believing in such reckless challenges. Popularity cannot be achieved through dangerous challenges as these. Every stakeholder must advise young people to desist from indulging in cheap popularity.
