This refers to the article, “Congress's arch enemy is actually its B-team” (December 26) by Gautam Mukherjee. The Aam Aadmi Party's strategy is clear. It pays to provoke the Congress so that the party eventually withdraws support and Mr Arvind Kejriwal and his men can go down in history as political martyrs.
This allows the Aam Aadmi Party to escape the responsibility of fulfilling its unrealistic promises. later, it may also come to power with a clear majority in case of a re-election. Either way, it basks in publicity for some time.
When such publicity reaches critical mass, the AAP will become the talk of the nation, not for its governance record but for its sheer street agitating ability. This seems to be the AAP's plan of action. Its aim is to stay in the limelight by theatrics and general mud-slinging.
It also makes good sense for the BJP to keep the AAP in power. First, this will expose the AAP's unrealistic promises. Second, the BJP should support the AAP on certain issues, such as another enquiry into Commonwealth Games scam, to prove its own credentials as an anti-corruption champion.
