This refers to the article, “India according to Shashi Tharoor” (July 16) by Sudip Bhattacharyya. It is painful that Shashi Tharoor, an elected Congress MP from Kerala, despite his impressive educational background, continues to act irresponsibly and thoughtlessly following his advent into politics.
Earlier too his crude remark, where he called the economy class in airlines as a ‘cattle class’ had invited troubles for him. Besides, he is facing problems in his personal life too. He is out on anticipatory bail in the case of death of his wife.
Tharoor’s latest faux pas is his claim that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is voted back to power in the 2019 General Election, India would become a ‘Hindu Rashtra’.
Further, Tharoor was also of the view that the BJP would “tear the Constitution and a new Constitution would be imposed”.
Curiously, this is the same Tharoor who, in his recent book, Why I am a HinduIJ, glorified Hinduism as the most tolerant, compassionate and inclusive faith.
