Sir — Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor must be congratulated for condemning Wharton India Economic Forum for cancelling the invitation to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. By keeping aside his strong personal reservations on Mr Modi, and observing that the institution had a duty to hear the Gujarat Chief Minister after inviting him, Mr Tharoor has displayed a maturity which is praiseworthy indeed.
The Union Minister was right in observing that in a debate, every point of view needs to be heard and then questioned. One may disagree with another’s perception but that is the point of a healthy, open debate. Wharton should know that Gujarat’s inclusive growth is a reality and cannot be brushed aside. It is Wharton which is the loser and not Mr Modi.
