Temporary relief

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “TN needs governance” (February 17). Tamil Nadu has been in focus for about six months now and the State is a good example of governing arrangements being reduced to rogue operations. It is no consolation that the DMK and the AIADMK could take turns in allowing their leaders, cadres and activists, to inflict unhappiness on the citizens.

New Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has a tough task ahead to prove majority in the Assembly for which he was given 15 days time. If he passes the test, he has the opportunity to bring about a much-needed change in the way politics is conducted in the AIADMK and Tamil Nadu. But the question is: Will he be his own man, or will he take orders from VK Sasikala, who is jailedIJ
