Sir — This refers to the report, “Inspired teachers need of hour, Pranab tells his pathshala” (September 6). An important and integral facet of President Pranab Mukherjee is that he is a passionate teacher. He not only had an illustrious stint as a university teacher, but has also maintained the spirit of a teacher all through his life.
It is not widely known that before he became the President of India, he was a regular faculty member at the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training at the lok Sabha Secretariat in New Delhi.
Members of Parliament from abroad and parliamentary officials would listen to his lectures with rapt attention and indulge in animated interactive sessions. His lectures on parliamentary practices and procedures, particularly on budgetary procedure, were enthralling and highly educative. It is highly inspiring that he has maintained his scholarly pursuit even today .
