Sir — Senior and distinguished parliamentarian Sharad Yadav’s comments on south Indian women were tasteless and needless. There was also no need to draw parallels with the ‘fair skinned’ Nirbhaya documentary-maker leslee Udwin to the ‘dark skin’ of south Indian women. Mr Yadav must have thought he was being witty when he made those shabby remarks.
Be that as it may, there are hundreds of crucial issues to be discussed in Parliament, and politicians like the Janata Dal (United) president should refrain from digressing from the core matter. They should use their oratorical skills to good effect to dwell on the problems plaguing the country.
