Tackling terrorism

Sir — This refers to the news report, “Kasab II misled by hostages” (August 6). Once again, Pakistan is in the limelight following the arrest of Mohammed Naved Yakub, a Pakistani-based terrorist. This arrest is even more remarkable as he has been captured alive and, hence, can provide substantial insights into Pakistan’s role in sponsoring terrorism on the Indian soil.

India has taken the right step by not discontinuing the scheduled National Security Adviser-level talks. ‘Terrorism’, the proposed agenda for the talks, provides India with an opportunity to corner Pakistan, with the innumerable evidences pointing towards the latter’s continued role in waging war against India. Engaging in a full-fledged war against Pakistan is no solution. Instead, India should tackle it with an iron hand in a velvet glove.
