Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Perils of softness” (May 25). It is because of radical Islam that militancy, in the otherwise scientific age of research and knowledge, has become both a reality and a nuisance across the globe.
To counter or defeat radical Islam, any act of terrorism has to be taken as an attack on the nation. There can be no alternative to this thinking.
The editorial rightly observes that, while the state cannot pre-empt the movement of every lone wolf, the actions of every lone wolf have to be tackled in earnestness to avoid a Kashmir-like scenario. Unfortunately, the Congress-led UPA is way behind in understanding the perils of softness. One hopes a better sense of judgement will prevail in Britain, to ensure the non-recurrence of such acts of violence.
