Tackle Maoists unitedly

Sir —This refers to the news report, “Don’t play politics over Naxal attack: BJP” (May 29).

It is unfortunate that the Congress indulges in politics and plays a blame-game only to tarnish the Raman Singh Government. As stated by BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar, the Maoist menace is not confined to just one State but plagues many States across the nation, and it is the ‘soft approach’ of the powers-that-be which has emboldened the Maoists to keep striking.

Pretending to be the Messiah of the masses, the Maoists have been fooling the gullible tribals for decades. Most often it has been impossible to develop these remote, far-flung areas because of the stranglehold that the Maoists have on these tribal areas. Some crucial support also comes their way from certain non-Government organisations and ‘jholawallah’ activists. States that have been hit by Maoists, must set aside their political differences and join forces to eliminate the Red menace once and for all.
