Sir — This refers to the article, “Nation’s health needs critical care” (March 19) by Shiv Basant. Though the writer has appreciated the efforts being made in the health sector and suggested reforms to strengthen it, one would like to point out that it is not just the health sector but other social sectors too that are beset by problems. It is a well known fact that lack of basic facilities like electricity, water, proper roads, transport and infrastructure deters many a person from opting to work in villages or small towns. Also, our organisational structure is corrupt top down. Therefore, no amount of allocation can alleviate the poor from their health and other needs.
