This refers to the editorial, “Premature accusations” (January 21). It is unfortunate that Rohith Vemula’s suicide has been turned into a Dalit versus non-Dalit issue.
Rohith was a Dalit student who died due to an unfortunate event and this should be condemned. He was not the first one to condemn anti-beef campaigns or the hanging of Yakub Memon. And it is also not about right or wrong, but about the freedom to speak up your mind. So, given the allegations put by the Opposition, the matter should be investigated systematically. Only then, allegations and counter-allegations should be levelled.
