Surgical strikes sent a strong message

This refers to the article, “Both defeated and uncivilised” (October 14) by JS Rajput. The Congress paid heavy electoral price when party president Sonia Gandhi attacked the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi with her ‘maut ke saudagar’ remark. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘khoon ki dalali’ comments have made it clear that the party has not taken lessons.

Indeed, it was a bold decision on part of Modi to permit the Army to cross the line of Control to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. The Army successfully destroyed the terrorists launching pads across loC. On the one hand, the surgical strikes have shaken Islamabad and the pet jihadists in the country, on the other hand, the skyrocketed popularity of Modi has frustrated the Congress. Party spokespersons cannot fool the country by claiming we-also-did-it. The never-seen-before nervousness of the civil and military establishments of Pakistan and frustration of terror outfit chiefs has made it clear that what happened on September 29 never happened in the past.
