Superstar not just on the screen; in real life too

This refers to the article, “Powerful Bhoothnath returns” (April 18) by Arindam Chaudhuri. It's a good article, but the writer has left out the challenges which Mr Bachchan faced and the dignified manner in which the superstar conducted himself in those difficult times. A person is judged by his actions in the face of adversity. Mr Bachchan came out in flying colours. The writer talks of the need for educated politicians. But that is not all. You need more than education to be a successful and credible politician.

Mahatma Gandhi was an average student and studied law in England. He was looked down upon by his professional colleagues, but in the course of time became one of the greatest men of all times. Similarly, Congress leader K Kamaraj was an under-matriculate but a successful politician. The profession of politics is the toughest of all, if one takes it seriously and sincerely.
