Sir — This refers to the article, “Managing Colombo in a changed situation” (February 15) by Ashok K Mehta. Just a thought: If China was in place of India, and if it sensed Sri lanka was playing games, it would not have allowed it to use any of its ports or its vessels, ships, boats or even planes on eastern or western coasts or require heavy port fees.
The Middle Kingdom would have kept their vessels sailing forever in open seas to China. In India, unlike Congress Government, the present Government is strong and it needs to use Chanakya neeti in covert ways to tackle some issues if needed to prevent back-stabbers of some cunning neighbours. let them know that there is a new ruler in town.
