Strict action should be taken against Sena MP

Published on:

This refers to the editorial, “Unpardonable conduct” (March 25). The conduct of Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad is unacceptable. He had not only beaten the duty manager on the Air India flight with his sandal repeatedly but had also tried to throw him down the plane for making him sit in the economy class instead of business class, while the flight he had insistently boarded was an all-economy class. Being an MP doesn’t entitle anybody to take law in one’s own hand.

The Federation of India Airlines and Air India have rightly barred Gaikwad from their flying network. Undesirable activity by anybody during a flight risks the lives of other passengers. Such people must be barred forever from boarding any flight, irrespective of who and what they are. Besides being unlawful, Gaikwad’s conduct must be a matter of concern for the lok Sabha, whose member he is, as well for the Shiv Sena. lok Sabha Speaker and Shiv Sena chief need to take note of it and do the needful.
