Sir — This refers to the news report, “Cong CMs join Opp, NCTC future bleak” (June 6). It is a delicious irony that even while the Chief Ministers of many Congress-ruled States like Maharashtra, Karnataka and Assam express stiff opposition to the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Union Minister for Finance P Chidambaram, who floated the move on NCTC, should rail against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Opposition-ruled States for their tepid response to the NCTC.
Tamil Nadu, that has nothing to do with the BJP, is also vehemently opposed to the NCTC. It would be amusing, if it weren’t so tiresome, to note that Mr Chidambaram’s tirade against Mr Modi borders on an ‘obsessive compulsive disorder’ rather than an argument for the NCTC. Perhaps, this is a sign of desperation.
