Stop the tamasha, anoint Rahul Gandhi officially

Published on:

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, clears an ordinance to protect convicted MPs and MlAs. It goes to the President for signature. Suddenly, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi wakes up and says the ordinance is “nonsense”.

Who calls the shots: The Prime Minister or Mr GandhiIJ The Congress vice president has castigated the entire Union Cabinet, but, surprisingly, party president Sonia Gandhi has maintained complete silence on the issue.

If this be the state of affairs, the Congress and the UPA should immediately announce Mr Gandhi as their prime ministerial candidate. Else, they must clarify on what authority he challenged his own Government and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The message we get is that while the BJP is all set to work wholeheartedly to win the lok Sabha election with Mr Narendra Modi at the helm, the Congress is unprepared and unable to even name its prime ministerial candidate.
