This refers to the report, “Centre takes hard line on hardliners'' (September 7). The Union Government’s decision to take strong action against Hurriyat leaders and separatists is a step in the right direction. Someone rightly said that a Government which is big enough to give you everything you want, is a Government big enough to take from you everything you have. The separatists have been thriving on the freebies bestowed by former Governments.
Not long ago, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the Hurriyat stalwart, publicly announced, “We are Pakistani, Pakistan is ours''. The same leader, soon after returning to India from london applied for a passport to visit his ailing daughter in UAE. After some initial hiccups, our Government showed its magnanimity and issued him a passport on humanitarian grounds. He is the same leader who is not hesitant to spew venom on India by instigating the Kashmiri youths to retaliate the Indian Army by pelting stones. The Government must withdraw all benefits given to such traitors and force them to leave for Pakistan.
